Title: Navier-Stokes equations on the flat cylinder with vorticityproduction at the boundary
Abstract: We study the Navier-Stokes equations on the flat cylinder withthe usual Dirichlet boundary conditions. Working in a suitable basis forthe vorticity, the problem is reduced to infinitely many coupled ODE’s.The boundary conditions are taken into account by adding a vorticityproduction term at the boundary. We prove equivalence of the ODE system tothe original NS system and show that for any $t>0$ the Fourier modes falloff exponentially fast in the periodic direction, but only as an inversepower in the other direction.
